Chiruvilwadi Kashayam is a classical preparation explained in the textbook ‘Sahasrayoga’. However, the Kashaya (herbal decoction) is more concentrated and converted into tablet form for more convenience. 

Primary ingredients of Chiruvilwadi Kashayam tablet

Chirivilwam (Haloptelea integrifolia)

Studies show that the plant shows anti-inflammatory, wound healing, anti-microbial, anti-viral activities. In addition, the plant offers antioxidant, anti-diarrhoeal, anti-emetic activities too. 

Punarnava( Boerhaavia diffusa)

The plant possesses pharmacological activities like immunomodulatory, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, hepatoprotective, etc.

Vahni (Plumbago zeylanica)

 The plant shows antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic properties, etc. In addition, the plant offers hepatoprotective, cytotoxic, and wound healing effects. 

Abhaya (Terminalia chebula) 

The plant possesses antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic activities.

Kana (Piper longum)

It shows antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Nagaram (Zingiber officinale)

The plant shows anti-arthritic, anti-inflammatory, and antidiabetic activities. In addition, the plant offers antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer activities too.

Indications of Chiruvilwadi Kashayam tablet

1. Haemorrhoids 

Hemorrhoids/piles are swollen veins in the lowest part of your rectum and anus. One of the common causes of rectal bleeding is hemorrhoids. There are two types of hemorrhoids, internal and external. 

Internal hemorrhoids develop inside the rectum, and external grow under the skin around the anus.

• Itching of the anal region
• Pain or discomfort of the anal region
