Primary Ingredients of Dasamoolarishtam

Dasamoolam

Dasamoolam contains roots of ten plants. They are

  • Bilva (Aegle marmelos)
  • Agnimantha (Premna serratifolia)Shyonakam (Oroxylum indicum)
  • Patala (Stereospermum suaveolens)
  • Gambhari (Gmelina arborea)
  • Brihati (Solanum indicum)
  • Kantakari (Solanum xanthocarpum)
  • Shalaparni (Desmodium gangeticum)
  • Prishniparni (Uraria picta)
  • Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris)

Pharmacological actions  

Dasamoola is an anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, analgesic, antispasmodic, adaptogenic, antioxidant, neuroprotective, uterine tonic, etc.

Guluchi (Tinospora cordifolia)

It has a wide range of medicinal properties. Studies show that Tinospora shows immunomodulator, anti-diabetic, antitoxic effects. In addition, the plant also shows anti-arthritic, antimicrobial, and antioxidant effects.

Musta (Cyperus rotundus)

 Studies reveal that Musta has antiandrogenic, anti-bacterial, hepatoprotective, cardioprotective, anti-oxidant, anti-convulsant etc.

Madhuka (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

This plant shows properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitussive, antiviral, antiulcer, hepatoprotective, antiallergic, etc.

Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi)

 Jatamansi possesses tranquilizing activity, hypotensive, anticonvulsant, neuroprotective, and anti-ischemic properties.

Devadaru (Cedrus deodara)

It shows antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, diuretic, antiulcer, neuroleptic activity, etc.

Rasna  (Alpinia Galanga) 

 The plant has stimulant, carminative, aphrodisiac, and anti-inflammatory properties. The rhizome is the part used.

Amalaki  (Emblica officinalis)

 Amalaki exhibits potent antioxidant, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, antiulcer, and hepatoprotective activities.

Manjishta (Rubia Cordifolia)

The plant shows blood purifiers, anti-acne, anti-dysenteric, astringent, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective activity, etc.

Lodra (Symplocos racemosa)

 The plant possesses hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antiandrogenic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic effects. 

Hareethaki (Terminalia chebula) 

The pant possesses antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic, cardioprotective, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, and anti-arthritic activities.

Indications of Dasamoolarishtam

Dasamoolarishtam and Digestive System

Dasamoolarishtam is an effective medicine reducing abdominal gas and bloating of the stomach. The formulation contains many herbs that regulate digestion. Dasamoolarishtam is effective in the treatment of indigestion and vomiting. Dasamoolarishtam also improves appetite.
