Gandha thailam is a medicated oil described in the Ayurvedic classical text book Ashtangahrudaya. This is explained in the context of ‘Bhagna Pratishedha’ or the treatment of fractures.
This medicated oil is a combination of several herbs like Krishna Tila(Sesamum indicum), Madhuka (Glycyrrhiza glabra),Manjishta (Rubia cordifolia) etc in a nourishing base of sesame oil.
Gandha thailam is commonly used in the stage of remodelling of bones after fracture, musculoskeletal disorders and degenerative diseases. It is commonly given as Paana (as internal medicine).
KRISHNA TILA (Sesamum indicum)

Plant has many pharmacological actions like blood purifier, anti-acne, anti dysentric, astringent, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective activity etc.
ULUVA (Trigonella foenum-graecum )
Preliminary researches suggest that fenugreek may help in reducing cholesterol levels, anti-inflammatory, anti spasmodic, and heart burn.
PUNARNAVA( Boerhaavia diffusa)
The plant possess pharmacological activities like immunomodulatory, antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, diuretic, hepatoprotective etc.
Sida cordifolia is a known tonic, astringent, emollient, and aphrodisiac. The drug is a major ingredient of several formulations in Ayurveda.
Pharmacological activities include galactogogue effect, anti secretory, antiulcer, antitussive, adaptogenic, antibacterial, hepatoprotective and cardiovascular activities.
GULUCHI (Tinospora cordifolia)
It has a wide range of medicinal properties. Studies show that Tinospora has immuno modulator, anti-diabetic, anti toxic, anti arthritic, anti microbial and anti oxidant effects.
ASWAGANDHA (Withania somnifera)
The pharmacological activities of Aswagandha include antimicrobial, anti-cancer, immunomodulatory, neuroprotective, stress relieving activities.
KUMKUMA (Crocus sativus)
The stigmas of the plant contain a variety of chemical constituents which make them suitable to possess diversified medicinal properties.
The plant possess hepatoprotective, anti-oxidant, anti-androgenic, anti-inflammatory, anti diabetic effects.
