Description
Prapaundarikadi Thailam is a medicated oil described in the Ayurvedic classical textbook ‘Ashtangahrudaya’. Prapoundarikadi Tailam is explained in the context of ‘Siroroga’.
This medicated oil is a combination of several herbs like Prapoundarika(Saccharum officinarum), Madhuka(Glycyrrhiza glabra) , Amalaki (Emblica officinalis)etc in a base of sesame oil.
Prapaundarikadi Thailam is recommended for application to the head to pacify the heat of pitta in the body. It cools and revives the body.

TILA THAILAM (Sesame oil)
Sesame is an important source of phytonutrients such as omega-6 fatty acids, flavanoid phenolic anti-oxidants, vitamins, and dietary fibre with potential medicinal effects. Sesame oil is composed of fatty acids like linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid.
AMALAKI (Emblica officinalis)
Amalaki exhibits strong anti-oxidant, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, and hepatoprotective activities. It is a good source of Vitamin C.
PRAPAUNDARIKA (Saccharum officinarum)
It shows analgesic, diuretic, and antithrombotic activities. It is good in skin and hair care.
CHANDANA :(Santalum album)
Chandana has many properties like anti-allergic, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-oxidant, blood purifier, analgesic, antipyretic etc. It has a cooling effect too.
MADHUKA (Glycyrrhiza glabra)
This plant has lot of medicinal properties like anti-microbial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitussive, antiviral, antiulcer, hepatoprotective, antiallergic etc.
